ALONE remembers lost friends and family
Dublin, 2nd November 2021: ALONE, the organisation that supports older people to age at home, is to hold a ceremony to remember the lives of people lost during the pandemic. The event will be held in the Unitarian Church in Dublin on today, Tuesday 2nd November, at 4pm.
The ceremony will be led by Reverend Bridget Spain and will feature staff, management, trustees and older people from the ALONE community throughout Ireland.
Together we will remember and honour all those who have passed away; older people, volunteers, staff, board, our partner organisations and all friends ALONE network. We will stand together and acknowledge those in our communities who lost someone dear to them.
ALONE CEO, Sean Moynihan said “In ALONE we lost over 1,000 people from our direct community throughout the pandemic and it is only now that we feel we can pause and reflect together. There has been great loss felt also through our network of partner organisations. The past 20 months have been extremely hard on all of Irish society but to those that lost loved ones and could mourn them fully we really feel for today.
“The opportunity for us as a country is to use what we have learned about our current social infrastructure and improve our society, for the better. Our communities have contributed greatly during the pandemic and we need to continue this great community awakening.”
Primarily a digital event there will be a live audience of ALONE Volunteers, staff and older people from the community but also access nationwide from the church’s streaming service: https://www.churchservices.tv/dublinunitarian/embed
