ALONE ECC Report Q2 2025
ALONE’s Quarter 2 (Q2) 2025 Enhanced Community Care (ECC) report highlights strong growth, strengthened partnerships, and measurable improvements in the lives of older people nationwide. This marks the organisation’s fourth year under the HSE’s ECC programme, a collaboration that ensures that older adults receive the care and supports they need to age at home.
In Q2 2025, ALONE newly supported 4,222 older people – a 5% increase from the previous quarter – and delivered 13,596 new interventions, averaging 3.5 interventions per person. At the end of this quarter, ALONE has supported a total of 33,911 older people across Ireland.
Key findings from Q2 2025 include:
- Rising physical health support needs were the most common issue identified (61%), with a sharp increase compared to Q1, followed by loneliness (46%) and mobility challenges (40%).
- Housing support needs featured prominently in the West & North West and Dublin & North East regions, primarily relating to home adaptations for safe, independent living.
- Loneliness continued to show up across regions as a pervasive issue, with a 9% increase in Visitation Support and Befriending supports provided in Q2 compared to Q1.
- Volunteers provided vital support, with 7,760 individuals contributing over 72,000 hours of service, valued at €2.3 million.
- Strong external engagement continued, with 71% of referrals coming from external agencies, including hospitals and community care professionals. Nearly half (45%) of interventions were delivered in partnership with other organisations.
- Community influence and policy progression was expanded through the Community Impact Network (now 181 member organisations), the rollout of the Richmond Place Housing with Support project, a pilot Wellbeing Service, and eight national policy submissions.
