ALONE Submission to Ireland’s Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme 2025
In July 2025, the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment opened a consultation to redesign Ireland’s Energy Efficiency Obligation scheme. ALONE provided a written submission which focused specifically on the point of the proposed changes to the conditions for achievements of credits under the energy poverty sub-target.
To achieve a Just Transition, ALONE believes that there must be better targeting of lower-rated, energy poor homes and improved support for older people and other at-risk groups to access grants. It is vital that the steps we take to reduce our emissions are progressed in such a way that is just and includes households living in energy poverty.
