Christmas Tree delivery in Willie Bermingham Place as part of ongoing effort to Share the Warmth.
ALONE, the national charity that helps older people to age at home, is once again collaborating with Andy Kenny and Firtree to give older people living in ALONE’s Willie Bermingham Place a Christmas tree and dinner.
This is a great part of ALONE’s Christmas campaign over the years and the charity is delighted to be able to support residents with this offering. This is off the back of the charity launching its winter campaign, Share the Warmth at the beginning of the month, with ALONE attempting to focus attention on the near 100,000 older people who are living in poverty this winter and their need for Volunteers year round.
Andy Kenny, co-ordinator of the Christmas tree deliveries, said “Every December my volunteers and I really look forward to this day. It’s something most people would take for granted but means so much to the residents. Seeing their smiles and excitement, makes it all worthwhile.”
ALONE CEO Seán Moynihan commented, “It is wonderful that Firtree and Andy Kenny have once again provided this wonderful offering. Christmas trees are a central part of the festivities and represent the good feelings and memories around Christmas. It is great to be able to offer this to some of our older people who may otherwise not put up a tree or may not even have access to a Christmas tree. We know that everything that we do, big and small, has a massive impact on the people we work with, this winter especially. And we are looking to Share the Warmth with those who need a bit more in their lives.”
Trees are all supplied free of charge by firtree.ie and likewise dinners by The Homestead Bar in Cabra, Dublin 7.
