The report “Telling It Like It Is: Experiences of Older People at End of Life 2025,” produced by The Alliance of Age Sector NGOs, which ALONE is member of, explores the experiences of older people and their families facing death and bereavement in Ireland. Drawing on the National End of Life Survey 2024—Ireland’s first national survey of bereaved relatives and friends—the report provides vital insights into the quality of end-of-life care. The report highlights key factors shaping the quality of end-of-life care.
This summary report outlines the key findings of what older people, and their families, need and want at this most critical time. The Alliance will use these findings to advocate for improvements in the delivery of end-of-life and bereavement care informed by these experiences.
