ALONE’s Strategic Plan 2026–2029 sets out our commitment to ensuring that every older person in Ireland can age with dignity, independence and connection in their own home and community. As Ireland’s population continues to age, we recognise that too many older people still face isolation, inequality and difficulty accessing the supports they need. Through this plan, we aim to address these challenges by expanding and strengthening our services, ensuring they are accessible, person-centred and grounded in evidence.
We will scale our nationally recognised service model to reach more people across the country, while enhancing integration with health and community systems, particularly through partnership with the HSE. A key priority is early intervention and prevention, enabling older people to remain well and independent at home for longer. We will also invest in innovation, technology and housing with support as alternatives to institutional care.
Collaboration is central to our approach. We will deepen partnerships across government, NGOs and communities to reduce fragmentation and deliver coordinated, high-quality supports. At the same time, we are committed to amplifying the voices of older people, ensuring their lived experiences shape policy, services and national strategies.
To deliver on this ambition, we are calling for sustained government investment in community-based supports, stronger alignment of national policies with the needs of older people, and continued partnership with the voluntary sector. We also seek support to expand volunteer engagement and develop sustainable funding streams, including social enterprise initiatives.
By strengthening our organisation, investing in our people and maintaining our independence, we will continue to advocate for older people and deliver practical, scalable solutions that improve quality of life and create a more inclusive society for all.
