Dublin, 19th February 2015  ALONE welcomes Minister Varadkars motivation to  remove the existing cap on Fair Deal Scheme funding and hope the cabinet will support him in this matter.  The budget for Fair deal has changed from €998 million in 2013 to €950million in 2015 despite our dramatically ageing population.

“Nursing home care isn’t always the best option” Dublin, 13th February 2015  ALONE has responded to Minister Lynch’s suggestion that fees under the Fair Deal Scheme be increased for new entrants to the scheme.

13th February 2015 ALONE, hosted a hugely successful meeting with organisations from around the country yesterday to discuss the setting up of a national network of befriending services for older people. The meeting followed ALONE’s launch of a National Befriending Directory last November.

Dublin, 19th December ALONE have handed the keys of five newly renovated houses over to four single older people and one couple, granting them each a home just in time for Christmas.
